After a particularly frustrating night at work at my job as a waitress I have decided to give some tips on tipping.
Tip on What Your Bill Would Have Been: if you have items taken off your bill because the management comps something that came out wrong, or if you have a gift card- please remember to tip on the original amount. Nothing is more frustrating when someone gets a 30$ item comped because it was not exactly to their liking, gets something else in it's place that is also free and doesn't remember to add that to their bill.
Don't Camp if you aren't going to tip: If you plan on sitting and chatting for hours, please try to do it during the non-busy hours, but if you must come at 730 and end up staying for more than an hour and a half- please tip extra. We don't get any tables, we usually have a small section and if you stay for extended periods of time, it is taking away from other customers sitting there. So please, just add a few more dollars.
"Verbal"Tipping Does not Count: Do not be really nice to your waitress and think that is good enough. Don't be nice to her if you think there is a problem- tell her, so she can have it fixed. Your food took too long? No problem we can get you some gift cards [at my restaurant anyway] Wasn't what you wanted, no problem- you'll probably get it for free, and we will make you something else. Verbal tipping won't pay our bills, that would be like your boss saying "Instead of paying you this week- i promise to not bother you as much" that wouldn't be fair to you, and it isn't fair to your server.
Tip 20% minimum: here's why- we don't make minimum wage, we make roughly 2-3$ an hour, and it is not easy work. So please, unless you have exceptionally bad service and you have spoken to management and know it is your server's fault- tip at least 20%. Leaving your server 20$ on a 400$ check will not show management anything- they don't see our tips and they could probably care less.
What percentage do you tip usually? If you are a server, what are some horror stories?
has anyone seen the show "Cook Yourself Thin"? It has a special guest who tells the host her guilty pleasure foods, and then the woman cooks them with crazy ingredients/weird ways so that the calories go down like none other.
They claim that if you follow their cook book that you will drop a dress size in six weeks! Has anyone tried any of the recipes?
Today I got up and went to the gym. I ran for twenty minutes, and I was disappointed when my distance read 1.5 miles. But, I am not discouraged, it just means i will have to work harder.
Tomorrow I have an 8:00 class, but I have another appointment with the elliptical on wednesday morning! And now I apparently don't have to worry about that boy keeping me from going to the gym, he let me go. [ I was laid off?] Just more to work off when i get running i suppose.
Wish me luck!

This morning I woke up early. I was doing my "dry run" to school to see how long it will take me to get there with traffic for 8:00. But, being that today is a holiday, my experiment was ruined- there was NO traffic. I had my gym bag ready to go for after I was all checked out of my room. I took a short nap in my car while I waited for the office to open. 8:30 I went and got finished what I had to do so that I was finally checked out completely. Then I drove to the Rec. Center only to find out that because of the holiday, the gym is not open until 3:00. Which is great because now I have about 4 hours until Henry comes so I can help him move in. But in the mean time I am stuck in the student center, with a growling stomach, and food less than twenty feet away. But I had a bowl of cereal and V-8 for breakfast, so I am trying to wait for a little bit until I have another meal. This diet/Workout is going to quite a bit more difficult, now that I know the universe is working against me. I won't have time by 3:00 to go to the gym, and I have no Idea what time I'll get there tomorrow- but we shall see. I am determined to have this workout started by no later than Wednesday.
Does it ever feel like the universe is against your attempt to be healthy?
Christmas is over, and new years is fast approaching. I got some sweet stuff for Christmas, I was hoping for a bathing suit so that I could start using the pool at school for working out, but that will have to wait until I have some dollars to buy one for myself. I have decided that this new years resolution isn't just about my weight, it is about my overall appearance. I want to look like a girl, which means I need to start putting some effort into my appearance. This means showering every day instead of every three days. It means going to the gym, and getting in shape. It means wearing make-up.. something I have only ever done for special occasions. I got a sweet set for Christmas from my sister, so I am using it everyday to try and get in the swing of things. I am not going to be counting calories... I tried, and I just got depressed by how many calories are in such little amounts of food. So my plan is to just eat healthy, and in moderation. Work out every other day on a strict schedule, maybe get a workout buddy so I am more diligent, but with classes only two days a week- that leaves me plenty of time to go workout. So instead of going crazy, I'm just going to start out slow- so i don't get discouraged. Start out steady and work my way back to the shape I used to be in.
